ALL-DAUGHTERS’ DINNER
The All-Daughters’ Dinner will be held Thursday, May 11, at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. We will be honoring the senior girls. The meal will be catered by Schumaker Farms. A freewill offering is suggested with the graduates’ and their mothers’ dinners paid. The menu consists of Parmesan chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, 7-layer salad, chocolate caramel cake, rolls and beverage. Reservations are required with the deadline May 5. A reservation form is in the newsletter.

BIBLE STUDY
The Wednesday Morning Bible Study will end their sessions on May 17. We hope you have a safe and fun summer and look forward to seeing all of you return in the fall!

BACCALAUREATE SUNDAY MAY 21
Baccalaureate Service here at West Lafayette UMC on Sunday, May 21 at 2:00 PM. This service is to celebrate, in a faith setting, the accomplishment of graduation. The Ridgewood High Choir is scheduled to sing. If your senior is planning on attending, please call the church office so we can plan adequately. There will be a cookie reception following the service.

GRADUATION SUNDAY MAY 28
On Sunday, May 28, our church will honor our graduating seniors in the worship service. We will present them with gifts and Rev. Bill will bring a special message just for the seniors. This promises to be a meaningful and fun service. If your senior is planning on attending, please call the church office so we can plan adequately for the graduates’ gifts. At 6:00 PM the seniors of Ridgewood High School will receive their diplomas in a ceremony in the Ridgewood gym.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
It was a great year for our Sunday School. The last day of Sunday School for all classes until fall will be May 28.

THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
The United Methodist Women met Thursday, April 13, 2017.

SPECIAL MUSIC WELCOMED THROUGHOUT SUMMER MONTHS
Persons with gifts of vocal or instrumental music are invited to contact Larry Bobbitt or the church office at 545-6368 to arrange dates to share their talents in the 10:30 AM worship service during the months of June, July and August. Please call as soon as possible to schedule your Sunday!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
VBS will be held Sunday, July 30 – Thursday, August 3 with a Family Dinner on Thursday evening. Sandy Shaw will once again coordinate the activity for us. Thank you, Sandy! Help is needed, stay tuned for details.

THANK YOU FOR HELP WITH THE CHICKEN DINNER
UMC and OUTREACH would like to Thank all that helped with the Chicken Dinner. We sold 237 tickets making more money than last year. (Great job!!) We had help setting up tables, serving and cleaning up. We received 32 baked pies, sheet cake, and angel food cake as donations. Thank you to Dean Caley for staying and setting up for Sunday School. Our church should be so proud of the way our members always are there to help. Thank you!!!!

NEW PASTOR – MATT ANDERSON
On July 1, 2017, Pastor Matt Anderson will become pastor of West Lafayette United Methodist Church. Pastor Matt and Pam will move into the parsonage on June 27, along with their two sons, Justus (4) and Silas (2). “Pastor Matt” as he likes to be called, is a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary. For the past three years, Pastor Matt has served as the pastor of North Royalton UMC in the North Coast District (greater Cleveland area.)

“I believe that the role of clergy in the local church is to be a shepherd who empowers and guides congregants to be ministers of the Gospel. My goal is to build up the people of God by equipping them with the knowledge and experience needed to live fruitful and vital lives for the Kingdom of God”.

“My style of leadership is one of collaborative engagement. I tend to lead by encouraging and coaching others to get a task done while I am there helping.”

Be sure to be in church on Sunday, July 2 to welcome Pastor Matt.
