Advent Family Devotions
This blog is designed for individuals and families to share in discussion around the lighting of the Advent wreath. This may happen at a dinner table or in the living room. The goal is to get everyone talking and reading scripture together. There will be 5 devotionals a week and a prepartion day for the following Sunday on Saturday. We (Pastor Matt & Pamm Anderson) hope these devotions will help you and your family connect with God and each other this Advent Season.

What is your favorite way to “deck the halls?” What are you favorite decorations during this holiday season? Lights, ornaments, nativity scenes, inflatable Santa Claus, the list may go on and on? (Share your answers with each other)
Does your family have special ornaments that go on the tree each year that remind you of something or someone special? Do they represent a time in your life or special memory?
Decorations prepare us for Christmas! They point to the different things that represent Christmas. Whether it be candy canes, stockings hung by the chimney with care, or a nativity scene each represent part of the season that we love!
John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus to start his earthly ministry. He carved a path for Jesus to come after him. Advent is about preparing the way for Christ in our own lives and allowing God’s love to spread through us to others.
As we prepare for worship tomorrow let us light the second purple candle of love and Pray:
Lord, you sent John the Baptist to prepare the way of Christ. Help us prepare the way for Christ to rule in our world by loving other as you have loved them. Forgive us when we are selfish and do not show love to our neighbors. Help us prepare the way in love for others to recognize you in our lives and in our community. Thank you for showing us your love through Jesus Christ, let us do the same. Amen.
