Peace
By Rev. Matthew Anderson
As we enter to into this season sometimes our lives can become busy with extra things to do and things to buy. Sometimes that means making lists and checking them twice. But if you could think about all that is ahead of you this Advent and Christmas season, what is the hardest part for you? (Share your answers with each other)
In this season we anticipate and await the celebration of the Christ child’s birth. The child is known by many names, but one stands out among our busy and chaotic lives this season, Prince of Peace.
As we prepare our hearts for worship tomorrow, we light a purple candle representing peace.
Let us pray for God to give us peace amidst the busyness that is Christmas in our society:
Lord, prepare our hearts to worship you tomorrow and throughout this Advent season. Help us to understand and know true peace that only comes from you. We pray we don’t get to overwhelmed amidst the multiple things we have to do this season so that we forget Christ. We ask now that you forgive us when we do. Help us in our weakness understand the peace that passes all understanding was born in Jesus Christ. Guide us to moments of true peace in the coming days as we welcome the Prince of Peace into our daily lives. Amen.
